WELLINGTON PERERA Cloud Solution Architect, Microsoft APAC

Wellington (Wela) started his career as a trainer in Microsoft tools and technologies in 1998. In year 2000 he started his journey as a software developer and co-founded e-Com Associates Inc in 2002, a company focused in building web solutions to European clients. In 2005 he founded his second tech startup – inZeek – to focus on enterprise productivity applications and web solutions. His passion for new technologies and eagerness to share knowledge motivated him to co-found the Sri Lanka .NET Forum, Sri Lanka IT Forum and several other similar tech community initiatives to connect with likeminded industry professionals to share knowledge and grow the ecosystem. As an appreciation for the contributions made to the technical communities in Sri Lanka he was awarded with the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Award (MVP) by Microsoft Corporation, USA in 2005 and 2006. He joined Microsoft Sri Lanka in 2006 and spent the last 11 years as the Developer Experience Lead for Microsoft Southeast Asia New Markets building an eco-system around Microsoft tools and technologies across the Academia, Student Developers, Professional Developers, Infrastructure Technology Professionals, Startups and ISVs. Currently he works as a Cloud Solution Architect for Microsoft Asia Pacific.

He also plays a voluntary role as the President of the Software Chapter in the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) – the apex body for the ICT industry in the country.

He spends his free time with the three champs at home and tries hard to teach the 4yr and 8yr old sons how to write computer code. Enjoys driving, movies, gaming on Xbox and Si-Fi TV shows.
